A hospital visit can be daunting, whether you're there for yourself or accompanying a loved one, especially if it involves a child. Below are some insights to help you navigate the process before, during, and after your visit to our hospital, providing guidance on what to expect.

Before Arriving at the Hospital:

Getting Organized:

- Gather comprehensive information about the upcoming surgery or hospital stay from the hospital staff. Inquire about accommodation, parking, and any other logistical details.

- Explore pre-admission educational materials specific to the procedure, if available, to better understand what to expect.

- Prepare a list of essential items to bring along for the hospital stay.

- If you have other responsibilities, such as caring for other children or managing household affairs, arrange for support from family and friends.

Informing Yourself:

- If you're accompanying a child, ensure you understand the purpose of the hospital visit and are prepared to explain it honestly and appropriately.

- Avoid using humor or making light of the situation, as it may not be well-received, especially by children.

Preparing for the Hospital Stay:

- Educate yourself about hospital procedures and potential challenges to anticipate during the stay.

- Address any questions or concerns by open communication with our surgical counsellor and/or other staff

During the Hospital Stay:

Communication with Care Providers:

- Familiarize yourself with your primary care team responsible for yourmedical treatment.

- Utilize ward rounds as an opportunity to discuss your care plan and address any questions or concerns you may have.

- Maintain open communication with the care team, expressing any needs or preferences related to your care.

Preparing for Discharge:

Discharge Procedures:

- Plan your departure in advance, ensuring you have all necessary paperwork and instructions especially if bill settlement involves Insurance Company.

- Confirm any follow-up appointments or medications required upon discharge.

- Take note of any resources or support services available to you after leaving the hospital.

Returning Home:

-You may require special mode of transport back home - ambulance / stretcher etc. Make sure to discuss this with Dr Dharmarajan before Discharge procedure is completed.
